The
‘Crab Fest Artwork’ was made by Emma Blyth
in year 2015. “Mandurah artist Emma Blyth has grown up in the Peel
region and has been inspired by it’s natural environment and lifestyle. The main
features in this years artwork is Mandurah’s blue manna crab and our Old
Mandurah Bridge.” This artwork is made from Bird’s eye view, the colors are a
mixture of cool and warm colors to showcase the environment. She has various
animals in this picture such as: a seagull, crabs, fish, and dolphins. I love how
she painted the crabs blue in the water, along with the color of the river. I
also like the way her bridge is at the top of the paper going to the right. All
in all, her color scheme is very pretty and very detailed.
In this crab fest
artwork, the color yellow-orange and red is mostly used at the top of the
artwork to visualize the atmosphere and the color the sun is giving off. The
river consist of different colors of blue that travels down the page. For
instance, it’s a darker-blue at the top of the river and gets lighter toward
the end. All the sailboats have a triangular shape to them. You can tell that
she mixed most of her colors with either black or white in certain places. Throughout her painting she has streaks of
blue and black in the air and in other various places. Her painting comes
together in many ways which makes it a good piece of art.
Emma Blyth wanted to show
how the enviroment was animal friendly and how the river is a big deal in
Mandurah. She paints sailboats, houses and people sitting at tables by the
river. She drew crabs to display the Crab Fest. Based on the painting, the sunrays
give off the sense that it is sunny and warm in Mandurah. She paints dolphins
in the water to show that the water is
full of different sea animals. She painted a lot in this painting, but just
enough to get her point across.
The crab fest artwork in
my opinion shows a lot of craftsmanship and technique. Her painting was very
clear and nice. The work was successfully interrelated in my opinion. It
illicits the idea that the Mandurah is a very big environmental piece in that
area. I am indeed moved by this work,
which is why I picked it!
In my opinion your critique is an excellent example of Feldman's four step process. You are a brilliant writer and your expressiveness matches the energy of the painting. Awesome work!!!!
